Description
Canvas on a dress loafer is a deliberate contradiction and the reason to look at this one. The shape is formal — clean vamp, round toe, a metal ornament across the instep, a shoe you could wear to a wedding — but the material is a plain woven cloth rather than a shine. It reads as summer formal, which is a genuinely hard register to hit.
The upper is stitched rather than bonded, and the lining is cotton, which is the right choice under canvas: both breathe, and the shoe stays cool through an afternoon indoors. The footbed is EVA with some cushioning, and the sole is rubber.
Three colourways: black, cream and grey. Cream is the summer wedding shoe; black keeps it formal; grey is the one that will get worn most. If you fall between two, take the larger.
