Description
This is the traditional espadrille, closed at the heel and cut as a loafer. Canvas upper, cotton lining, jute wrapped around the midsole — the construction has not changed much in a century because it did not need to. It is light, it breathes, and it is meant to be worn on a bare foot in hot weather.
The jute band around the midsole is the signature, and it is what makes the shoe look like nothing else on the rack. Underneath, the outsole is fabric with a flat profile under a centimetre — this is a shoe for dry pavements, terraces and holidays, not for a wet British October.
Six colourways: black, cream, navy, natural, grey and beige. Natural is the undyed one and the most classic. Navy is the one that works with everything. Sizing runs across a long range, from UK 4½ to UK 10. Two notes: a size up for wide or thick feet is advised, and this is explicitly not waterproof — canvas and jute both take up water and neither dries quickly, so keep them for dry days. Do they need breaking in?
There is no set break-in time for this pair. What is declared for this pair: the upper is cotton canvas, the lining is cotton. If a pair does not feel right once you have it on, our 30-day return applies.
Can I wear them without socks?
That is your call — there is no published recommendation either way. What is declared for this pair: the lining is declared as cotton, the footbed as rubber. No-show socks keep the inside of any shoe fresher if you wear it often.
