Description
Suede inside and out. The lining here is cow suede rather than the usual synthetic, which is unusual at any price and changes how the shoe feels after an hour — suede against the foot grips lightly instead of sliding, so the heel stays put without the shoe needing to be tight.
The shape is the classic one: saddle strap with a slot cut through it, a clean vamp, and a low stacked-look heel that lifts the back just enough to keep the line elegant under a trouser. The upper is stitched, and the footbed is pig split leather. The sole is rubber — the sensible choice for a shoe that will meet British pavements.
Three colourways, all of them serious. Black is the formal one. Dark brown is the one that does the most work, and it is the one to buy first. Navy is the interesting choice, and it sits beautifully against grey. This is the dressiest suede in the range and it deserves the care that goes with it: a brush for the nap, dry weather only, and time to dry away from a radiator if it does get wet.
