Description
A shoe with nothing on it, which is harder to get right than one covered in hardware — with no bit and no strap to catch the eye, the whole thing rests on the line of the vamp and the shape of the toe. This one keeps the topline low and the toe softly rounded, so it stays close to the foot instead of sitting on top of it.
The upper is a smooth artificial leather, stitched rather than glued along the vamp seam. The footbed is pigskin, which is a genuinely nice touch at this price: leather underfoot absorbs moisture across a day in a way that a synthetic insole does not, and it is the part of the shoe you feel most. Underneath, a rubber sole with a low profile and enough tread to be sure-footed on a wet pavement.
Three colourways. Black and brown are the pair that do the everyday work. Cream is the summer one, and worth knowing that a pale synthetic scuffs more visibly than a pale suede — it wipes clean, but deep marks stay.
