Description
This is the loafer you reach for when the day has no particular shape to it. There is no lining, no stiffener at the heel, no hardware across the vamp — just a soft upper folded and stitched around the foot, which is what gives it that collapsed, lived-in look straight out of the box. It never goes through a breaking-in period because there is nothing rigid in it to break in.
The upper is stitched rather than glued along the vamp seam, and the seam is left visible as a raised ridge running from the toe to the throat. The sole is rubber, light and low, with a thin white edge that lifts the whole shoe visually. Coverage stops well below the ankle, so the shoe sits low on the foot and shows the instep.
Eight colourways, and they split cleanly by use. Black, dark brown and taupe carry a jacket without argument. Stone, camel and white belong to warm weather and pale trousers. Tan and denim blue sit somewhere in between, and are the two that get worn most. Wear them barefoot in summer, over a fine sock the rest of the year. Not waterproof, and not meant to be — keep them for dry days, brush the nap when it flattens, and let them dry away from a radiator if they do get caught out.
