Description
This is the dressed-up end of the loafer range. The last runs long and narrow to a point rather than the rounded toe of a driving shoe, and the sole is slim enough to slide under a trouser break without bulking it out. It is a shoe for a wedding, a dinner, or an office where people notice shoes.
The upper is cow suede with a frosted finish — the nap is brushed short and even, which catches the light differently as the foot moves. A metal bit sits across the vamp and is the only ornament on the shoe. Inside, a cotton lining rather than the usual synthetic, which matters on a warm day, over a PU footbed. The outsole is rubber, thin, with just enough tread to stop the shoe skating on a polished floor.
Two colourways and they do very different jobs. Black is the formal one, and it is the one to buy if you are buying one. Ivory is a summer shoe, worn with pale linen or an unstructured navy suit, and it will show marks — that is the deal with a pale suede. This pair runs small and short. Take a full size up from your usual, and a size beyond that if your foot is wide.
