Description
Half shoe, half slipper, and the only thing on the rack that handles both. The toe is closed and rounded with room across the joints, the heel is left open, and there is nothing to fasten on the way out. It covers the parts of the day that fall between indoors and out: taking the bins down, an hour in the garden, the walk to the bakery on the second morning of a holiday.
The footbed is moulded rather than flat. It rises under the arch and drops into a deep heel cup, so the foot settles into the shoe instead of sliding about on top of it, which is what keeps a backless clog on the foot in the first place. Beneath it sits a cork-effect midsole, and under that a ridged outsole with a lugged edge that holds on wet stone and tiled floors.
The strap is the part you set once. It runs on a metal pin buckle across the vamp, so you can let it out for a broader foot or draw it in for a closer hold, then forget about it. The hardware follows the colourway: antique brass on Khaki, Tan and Dark Brown, a softer copper on Black, Stone and Taupe.
The upper is a faux suede with a short, even nap. Six colourways, split roughly by season: Khaki and Dark Brown to carry into autumn, Stone, Taupe and Tan through the summer, Black for everything in between. Wear them barefoot when it is warm and over a sock when it turns, though if you expect to wear socks, take the next size up.
