Description
A chain across the vamp and a platform underneath — the two things that make this shoe read as considered rather than plain. The chain moves slightly as the foot flexes, which is what separates it from a fixed metal bar, and the platform gives the whole shoe a solid, planted proportion.
The lining is cotton, which is worth noting at fifty pounds: it breathes where a synthetic lining traps heat, and it is what makes a closed platform shoe wearable through a summer day. The footbed is fabric and the outsole is rubber, with a flat heel so the foot stays level.
Four colourways: black, light blue, tan and cream. Light blue is the unexpected one and the reason to look past the black. The size run is long, from UK 3 to UK 8 — one of the more accommodating shoes in the women's range. Not waterproof: wipe the upper and keep it out of standing water.
