Description
Forty pounds, and the design brief is comfort rather than fashion. The sole is a flat platform — raised evenly along its whole length, so the foot stays level while sitting well clear of the ground — and the outsole is rubber with a stated non-slip tread. Nursing and walking are among its listed uses, which tells you exactly who it is built for.
The upper is PU cut through with an openwork pattern. On a shoe meant to be worn for long shifts in warm rooms, perforation is not decoration: it is the only ventilation the shoe has. Inside, PU lining and footbed.
Three colourways, cream, navy and white, all pale, which suits an openwork pattern — cut-outs read as a texture in a light colour and vanish in a dark one. Two practical notes. It is not waterproof, and it cannot be: the holes go straight through.
